Well we lived past the eve of destruction. Not saying that there wasn't any destruction, but there has been a lot more since and there have been peaceful periods too. I guess when I hear "eve of destruction" I kind of think to myself a world ending cataclysm. That obviously hasn't happened and whoever told him that we were not on the eve of destruction was absolutely correct at least in my view of what an eve of destruction would actually entail.
